Kuala Lumpur Hostel Review

SUNSHINE BEDZ

This hostel came very highly regarded on Hostelworld AND it was cheap!

Facilities

The wifi here is quite good and also free. You get it everywhere in the hostel although if the hostel is quite busy it can be a little slow. It is also generally better downstairs. They provide two different modems to try and ensure that you get the wifi everywhere. There are also computers which are free to use, although during our stay only one of these worked.

The reception is open 24 hour and they actually buzz you in to the hostel, they also check your name and room number. There is CCTV also. They don't lock the rooms here but there are lockers in reception and in the dorms to keep valuables.

There are a few lounge and sofa areas dotted around. Plus there are balconies on each floor if you want to get out in the sun but don't want to leave the hostel.

You also get given towels here so you don't have to use your own. They allow you to shower before you have checked in to the room and after you have checked out.

Showers and Toilets

There are several toilets and showers on both floors. During my stay, I never found myself waiting to use one. The facilities themselves are cleaned more than once a day. It's touches like these which explain why this place is so championed on HostelWorld.

Staff

The staff here are lovely, they will help you out and give you advice if where to go whether in the day or night. Plus, when we were going to a temple one of the girls in reception gave us tips on what we could wear. They make an effort to know who is in the hostel and help them where they can. Also, when we checked out they let us use towels so we could shower.

The staff here, make this hostel. Patrick runs a really well oiled ship here. There was not one member of staff who was ever moody, rude or unhelpful.

Breakfast

Breakfast was basic, just bread for toasting and spreads. Whilst you are here, you need to try the coconut jam. Although not for all due to its sweetness, it is so nice! Plus the other jams are so sweet here that you may aswell give it a go.

Value For Money

This place is cheap although slightly higher for Asia but it was in a good location so that we could walk everywhere. Plus the reviews were right- this hostel is really good and I would rather pay a pound more a night, to have a nice stay then stay in some hole.

Dorms

Dorms were of an okay size, they could of done with being slightly bigger due to bags etc but that is me being pedantic. They provide large lockers, as always you just need your own locks. The beds are wooden which did such a change from the metal ones because it already made the room look a lot nicer. The rooms have air con, although it can get slightly cold here at night due to it so bring a hoodie for extra warmth.  Don't panic, they do provide blankets if not.

Location

Really good location. It cost us RM13 to get to here from KL Central at a busy part of the morning. We walked to all of the sights I have discussed with you. Although, if you are not wanting to walk, there is a free public bus that runs to the inner city centre. It is close to the bus station also, using the free bus it took us about 10 minutes. Just keep an eye out on the bus for street names etc because the bus doesn't necessarily stop at all the places it says it does.

OVERALL, I would really recommend staying in this hostel. The staff are nice, the location is good, you feel secure, plus it's cheap!

Love Imogen xoxo
