Singapore Hostel Review

FOOTPRINTS HOSTEL

Facilities

The wifi here was free and they had over eight modems so wherever you were in the hostel you had wifi. If all the wifi is like this in Asia...life is going to be good-Australia take note!

Security to get in the initial bit of the hostel isn't great however to get to the rooms you need a pass code and then a key to get in to your room so this is good.

There is a microwave, kettle and fridge available but no actual kitchen here.

They have a lounge downstairs with a tv and an array of films which is great especially if there is one of Singapore's unpredictable showers.

Showers and Toilets

The bathrooms here were cleaned regularly and I never found myself having to queue. So all in all pretty good. They also have a toilet on the ground floor near reception.

Staff

The staff here were really nice. However, their knowledge on basic information was not always great. For instance, when booking our train to Singapore we found that they could not really help us and were unaware of the price differences between Singapore and Malaysia for tickets. Despite this being well known. However, another worker helped us pick out a bus to be able to catch our train etc. So really it wasn't that staff were unhelpful just lacking knowledge. Regardless of this, they were never rude when they could not help and they would try to help the best that they could.

Breakfast

Breakfast here was free and consisted of bread for toasting, two types of cereals and am array of spreads. Please be aware, jams over here are very sweet and more of a jelly substance.

Value For Money

This was one of the more expensive hostels for Asia but it provided everything we wanted, plus simple directions and travelling options for when we arrived as we were aware that we would be arriving late. Plus, they have a 24 hour reception so we knew arriving later would not be an issue either. It also had a high rating on Hostelworld!

Dorms

The rooms were quite narrow so there was not necessarily room for movement. However, there were lockers and a bed side light and shelf. Plus their plug sockets were for English plugs!

Location

This hostel is in Little India and there is a tube station about a 5 minute walk away. The tube is easy to use and very regular so if you want to see the sights it's very easy. Little India is also close to the Sim Lim Tower which is good for gadgets etc.

OVERALL, it was a good hostel, with comfortable rooms and welcoming staff!

Love Imogen xoxo
