As you go up the East Coast, you hear nothing but praise for this hostel. Everyone compares it to a resort and says that for once, the pictures on hostelworld are actually accurate!
Facilities
Again, I didn't bother buying wifi and I was glad that I didn't because a few people said it wasn't the greatest whilst we were there. There were computers available to use at a price if desperate!
Reception shuts at 7 although if you needed help the people in the kitchen/bar could help you!
The swimming pool is a real selling point of this hostel. With the backdrop of the beach, it really does look amazing. Although we were unaware, we were actually treated to a pool party whilst we were there. We were none the wiser because it wasn't really advertised plus because we hadn't been there before we thought there was music everyday! Having the music there was a plus however the guy rapping was not.
The bar was reasonably priced and had a good atmosphere because where else were you really going to go on the island!? Like I said before, staff were friendly and they weren't as strict as other places regarding alcohol consumption- result!
The kitchen was quite good- anything beats bungalow bay though! Just be careful as there are animals about so don't leave food out or doors open etc.

Showers and Toilets
The showers and toilets are in a block. There are a lot of them so you never have to wait. Overall, they are kept tidily and appear to be cleaned often-I mean what more could you want!
Staff
Staff at both the hostel and bar are friendly and helpful- whether this is related to transport, recommendations on what to do or trying to persuade you to get that cocktail. They make the atmosphere really chilled out. Although, at the pool party that we didn't even know was happening they did corden off an area for themselves which just seemed a bit ridiculous.
Value for Money
Money wise- this hostel isn't bad although we did use the base card so we would say that! Without the card though it's worth it and if you have just come off your whitsundays trip you definitely want that R&R!
Dorms
We were quite lucky because when we booked we were given an air-conditioned room. However, not all the rooms are so when you book I would recommend calling or emailing to check this out because without air con the rooms are stifling. If you are left in a room without air con don't think that the way to solve this is by leaving the door open because possums will get in.
Location
The hostel is a short walk from two supermarkets and a bus ride from he feet station. Like I said previously, this place is like a resort so you don't necessarily need to go far.
Overall
I really liked this hostel especially because we bumped in to a lot of people along the way. This place is raves about and it is nice to have some relaxation time after Whitsundays but before Cairns.
